Dpusys.ini
and sysupd.exe files. Remove, removal, removing, deleting permanently
information.
If you noticed Dpusys.ini
or sysupd.exe files on your computer then read this page
completely.
These files I believe are
part of a trojan program called trojan.norio. If you were lucky you
noticed these files and programs running in the background on your
computer. You probably have already noticed when trying to delete
Dpusys.ini or sysupd.exe that they just keep returning whenever you
restart your computer. This trojan could have been installed by a
weekness in your firewall or through email or by downloading a
document.
First step
in removing these files before they cause much mischief is to be sure
you have the latest firewall, anti virus, adware/spyware detection
updates. Software updates should be done at least weekly to address
new internet threats. See our home
page link to the left for information on these areas.
The interesting notes about
this trojan that has appeared on our computer is after deletion of
dpusys.ini and sysupd.exe they return to your computer. that is
because a file was added to your start up so they are reproduced every
time you restart your computer. Also, the Dpusys.ini file is self
replicating and has added itself to multiple files on your computer.
The other problem is it has the ability to tell your firewall and anti
virus software to skip these files when performing a system scan. This
is an option you have with most software when scanning to skip certain
files or folders. Now that you have the background information on the
dpusys.ini and sysupd.exe and after you you have updated your
filrewall, anti virus and adware/spyware software read below for step
by step instructions for permanently removing these files from your
computer. If you are unsure about any of these steps seek further
advice.
Using your adware/spyware
software run a system scan to locate sysupd.exe file(s) and possibly
Dpusys.ini in your registry
Delete these files using the
software.
Restart your computer in
safe mode. This is done by going to start, restart computer, then
press and hold the control key or F8 key on some systems while
computer is rebooting, menu will appear and enter the number from the
menu for safe mode and press enter. computer will restart in safe
mode.
After restarting your
computer in safe mode: find/search for files and folders on your
computer containing text sysupd.exe.
locate and delete. Should at
least have located and delete "search(1)" located in
windows/temporary internet files
Perform another find/search
for files and folders containing text Dpusys. This file may be found
in several places on your computer.
locate and delete. Should at
least have located and deleted several files found in
windows/temporary internet files. DO NOT delete file windows/userdat.
Restart your computer
Go to the settings area of
your anti virus and firewall software. Reset the bypass we mentioned
above so that the anti virus and firewall software will not skip these
files if they come across them during a system scan in the future..
Congratulations
you are now done removing Dpusys and sysupd permanently from your PC !
